Jazz Series 2021 - 2022

This series from 2021-2022 centers on the interplay of sounds in jazz music. The ability to equalize the sound and process to set up an imagined color and shape structure. Timbre, bass, treble, loudness, softness and vibration all play a part.

Round About Series 2020-2021

Roads, highways, overpasses, roundabouts all add up to mobility and movement during our daily lives. The circles merge one onto the desired path. These designs fascinated me and also gave me a reason to set aside my straight ruler for my compass and incorporate some curves into my work. The decorative paper patterns illustrate the content of the blocks formed by the “roadways” and accessed by the round abouts. Color is also important in these pieces as a tool for defining space and movement.

Channeling Mondrian 2020-2021

This series reflects my fascination with the work of Mondrian. The scattered grid and solid areas of color create a playfulness on the surface while being totally controlled in an organized way. Adding some snippet shapes from my old screen prints provides some texture and relief from the hard-edged solid rectangles. I had a wonderful chance to explore color theory as well. This series came after my “Channeling Albers Series” and continues my exploration into color reaction and interaction.

 Channeling Albers Series 2018-2019

This series reflects my fascination with the work of the great color theorist, Josef Albers. I have always been captivated with color reactions and interactions. I have a strong respect for geometry and spatial balance and spatial ratio. I explore the interplay between color and space.
